| Description : | "The mobile industry is experiencing a true expansion across the world, and Canada is no exception — in 2010, 75% of Canadian households had a cellphone (Mobithinking, 2010), in 2011, 36% of Canadians had a Smartphone (comScore Mobilens, March 2011), consisting mostly of the big 4 — RIM, Microsoft/Nokia, Google Android and Apple, and in 2011 Yellow Pages Group announced that 30% of their business searches are mobile. That’s a huge number of people ready to be reached by location-based mobile advertising. From a Marketing point of view, this opens a door on a world of possibilities. However, mobile advertising is not increasing at the same rate as mobile usage. When it comes to the potential for mobile display advertising and search there are only 5.201M people in Canada who actively use their Smartphone for browsing and apps. This gives some indication of why mobile advertising is not growing as fast as the mobile industry in general." |
