GDPR or the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) is a new set of guidelines that intends to harmonize the current legal framework for data protection within the European Union (EU).
Its main goals are to increase legal certainty, reduce administrative burden and cost of compliance for organizations and enhance consumers’ confidence. The regulation is currently in a two-year transition period and will officially be enacted 25 May 2018."
