Crash data is the current metric used for measuring and managing road safety. It provides valuable and necessary information, including historical event data. While it is currently the main source to monitor the impact of corrective actions, there can be a lag time of up to 18 months and it only provides a single perspective of road safety, since not all crashes are reported"
